La Bella Fleur Birthing Hospital
Natural Birthing Suites
Our birthing center is equipped with 8 Natural, Holistic Birthing Suites. A natural birthing experience, often characterized by minimal medical interventions, offers several benefits for both the mother and baby. For the mother, it typically allows for a more personalized and empowering experience, with increased control over the birth process and reduced likelihood of interventions like epidurals or cesarean sections. This approach can lead to a faster recovery and lower risk of complications associated with medical procedures. For the baby, natural birth can facilitate a smoother transition from the womb to the outside world, potentially enhancing their respiratory and immune system functions. Overall, a natural birthing experience often fosters a stronger bond between mother and baby and supports a more holistic and positive birth experience.
Water-Birthing Suites
La Bella Fleur Birthing Hospital offers 8 water birthing suites. Water birthing, where labor and delivery occur in a pool of warm water, offers several benefits. For the mother, it provides a soothing and pain-relieving environment, helping to reduce stress and discomfort through buoyancy and warmth. This can enhance relaxation and mobility, potentially leading to a more manageable labor. For the baby, the gentle transition from the warm water to the outside world can be less jarring, which may contribute to smoother breathing and a more gradual adjustment. Water birthing also promotes a calming and private atmosphere, which can support a positive birth experience. Overall, it is valued for its potential to make the birthing process more comfortable and less stressful for both mother and baby.
Mother/Baby Suites
La Bella Fleur Mother and Baby Unit consists of 24 suites. After an initial exam, your baby will stay with you during the recovery period and accompany you to the Mother/Baby Unit. Mother and Baby are required to stay 24 to 72 hours or longer to ensure that mom and baby are healthy after delivery.
If your baby is premature or needs specialized medical attention, he or she may be admitted to our NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit). The NICU is located on the same floor as our Mother/Baby rooms so that mom and baby are never far apart.
The Mother/Baby Unit provides a spacious, private room with a bathroom and a sleep area for your partner and/or support persons as you recover from delivery. We also provide gourmet meals after delivery with room service available to all our moms on the Mother'/Baby Unit.
The Nurses and Ancillary staff specialize in caring for you and baby, while focusing on rest and recovery after birth. All of our Mom/Baby unit nursing staff are also trained to assist and support moms with breastfeeding goals.
Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU)
The La Bella Fleur NICU is equipped with advanced technology, trained healthcare professionals and designed to provide care to babies who need specialized care. Newborn babies who need intensive medical care at birth, are preterm (born before 37 weeks of pregnancy), have low birth weight (less than 5.5 pounds), or have a health condition that needs special care will be admitted to the NICU. Some of our specialty-trained healthcare providers who may care for your baby include: Neonatologists, Neonatal Fellows, Pediatricians, Neonatal Nurse Practitioners, and Respiratory Therapists.
Our NICU team members work together with parents to create a plan of care for high-risk newborns.
Surgery Center
While La Bella Fleur will always promote and support a mother’s birthing decision, our overall goal is to ensure that mom and baby are healthy and safe. In the event of an emergency, it may be necessary to perform a caesarean section. La Bella Fleur Birthing Center is also a surgery center that consists of 2 surgery rooms and a waiting room for family and friends.
Caesarean Sections are often performed because vaginal delivery would put the mother or baby at risk. Reasons for an emergency c-section would include: obstructed labor, twin pregnancy, high blood pressure in the mother, breech birth, shoulder presentation, and problems with the placenta or umbilical cord.
Not everyone who has or have had a cesarean delivery before will need another the next time. You may be able to have a vaginal birth after cesarean (VBAC). Your healthcare provider will happily assist in presenting you with all your labor options.
