Women’s/Mother’s, Infants, and Children Program (W.I.C/M.I.C)

La Bella Fleur Healthcare Center, Inc, has a W.I.C (Women’s, Infant’s, and Children’s) Clinic in Maryland and M.I.C (Mother’s, Infant’s, and Children) Clinic in Colorado that promotes, healthy eating, breastfeeding, and other offers alternatives. The WIC/MIC clinic is bringing awareness to Diabetes and other related comorbidities that are synonymous with unhealthy eating while pregnant.

A Nutritionist will guide the new mother on healthy eating, the ability to use vouchers for healthy eating through vendors such as: Farmers Market, Whole Foods, Natural Grocers, Sprouts, and by other governmental assisted food programs.

Upon the mother’s second scheduled visit to the clinic, the pregnant mother is referred to the WIC/MIC Clinic to determine eligibility of the program. IF the mother is eligible for WIC services, then each subsequent visit to the clinic for the prenatal appointment will coincide with being scheduled with the WIC/MIC office to ensure that the mother will always receive her vouchers on time monthly.

WIC/MIC Clinic hours are Mon-Friday from 8am to 5pm, excluding Federal holidays.

Lactation Classes

La Bella Fleur Healthcare Center, Inc offers lactation classes that teach the pregnant mother and support person everything that they need to know about breastfeeding so that the breastfeeding experience will be smooth and enjoyable for mom and baby.

Instructed by one of La Bella Fleur International Board Certified Lactation Consultants, this 2 hour class will help you to prepare for breastfeeding prior to delivery so that you can achieve the best breastfeeding experience.

After Delivery, La Bella Fleur Birthing Center, Inc will have a Certified Lactation Nurse or Specialist to visit you at bedside. Once discharged if the mother is still having difficulty at home, the Postpartum Nurse or Specialist will contact the Lactation specialist to do a home visit for the same day.

Lamaze Classes

La Bella Fleur Healthcare offer Lamaze classes to help the pregnant mom and support person to focus on coping practices to build your confidence for the physical and emotional challenges of labor in addition to the birthing basics.

The pregnant mother and support person will learn positive internal practices that will help you to prepare mentally, while also teaching your support person comfort techniques, stretches, and positions that can reduce and alleviate pain through the use of a birthing ball.

The Certified Lamaze Specialist will teach laboring positions, comfort measures, and relaxation techniques, partner support, and optimal positions for second state laboring (pushing). The Lamaze instructor will also create individualized birth plans for your birthing experience.

La Bella offers Lamaze classes Monday-Friday, hours vary.

Maternal Mental Health Services

La Bella Fleur Healthcare is offering Pre and Post Maternal Mental Health Services to enhance the quality of life throughout the mother’s pregnancy and to continually elevate mental health healing during and after her birthing experience. Mental Health is the leading cause of Maternal and Infant Mortality.

“Maternal depression and other perinatal mood disorders are linked to risk factors for maternal mortality and morbidity. . .Mood disorders are prevalent among new mothers, particularly women of color who grapple with myriad stressors, including racism.”(American Progress, 2019). Although, the prevalence of mood disorders are known in women of color, the Prescence of mental health can exist in any race. La Bella Fleur want to ensure that all women are able to receive mental health therapy if is needed.

La Bella Fleur has implemented mental health evaluations for all patients of the Healthcare Center. Upon the mother becoming a patient of La Bella Fleur, the mother is required to get a mental health evaluation regardless of past, present, or no history of mental health issues. The evaluation also allow the pregnant mother to receive services after delivery, such as: postpartum/bereavement services.
